Search Your Way To A Healthier Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner

When it comes to eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, restaurants makes it quite quick and easy for us to grab a meal and go. Guess what? So, does the internet. With the search engine of your choice, we can also quickly and easily type in some keywords and find recipes of our choice. Plus, there are a ton of benefits to cooking at home.

First of all, you typically know what’s going in your meal. Secondly, people typically eat healthier when they are cooking at home. <—- brakes! Please notice I said “COOK”, not grab a bag of potato chips and sit down to gorge. That is not cooking 🙂 Moving on….individuals who also cook at home, typically become more knowledgeable about the foods they consume. There are many benefits to cooking your meals. My wife and I find it to be a great bonding experience and when we are with my mother-in-law, we find it to be a great family experience as we all chip in. A study at John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health even found that people who cooked 6-7 nights out of the week at home, consumed less calories than they ate out. In addition, they consume fewer carbohydrates, less sugar, and less fat (See Study HERE).

Now then, back to my spiel about the internet being quick and easy. Okay, let me explain that. 🙂 With use of a search engine of your choice, you can type in any keywords to find a recipe. Maybe I have some kale, some avocado, and tomatoes, and I want to figure out maybe what I can use them for within a recipe or maybe find a recipe where I need to just get a few things while still using up what I have.

Simply type in some food choices and find a recipe of your choice. It is that easy!

When it comes to working with my clients or those subscribed to receive my emails, I try to send recipes out when I can of the foods my wife and I cook. You can find some of my recipes HERE, on my Instagram page, or on my wife’s Instagram page.

But, you know what, there are always those particular meals where we struggle the most with. For most of the people I speak with, it is typically lunch. As I mentioned before, it is so much easier to grab some fast food while at work. I mean no one has time to prep before work because they are scurrying out the door for work. Matter of fact, they probably did not even eat breakfast? Am I right? 🙂

This is where meal planning and prepping comes into play. You can read more about meal planning and prepping in a previous article I wrote: Meal Planning and Prepping

The Key to a Successful Nutrition Program: Planning & Prepping

Now that you have read that article, you are probably thinking that you now understand the importance of meal planning and prepping, but you need some more examples of what to make. Right? Right. Do you remember that comment above about the internet being quick and easy? Well, this is where all that comes into play.

Internet + Search Engine + Recipes of Your Choice = Success

Give it a try. Decide on which meal you want to find recipes for and search for it. It is that simple. After you try this, I want you to type the recipe you found in the comment section below. 🙂

This may seem like a simple idea, but many of us freak out when we have to think about what to make. Maybe the individual has zero to little experience with cooking or has no idea where to begin with such meals for lunch when they are so used to grabbing something from the local fast food chain. Or maybe that individual is looking for particular recipe and has no idea where to being: high-protein, low calorie, low carbohydrate, gluten-free meals, and so forth.

As I mentioned, it is important to understand that you have such quick and easy access to create the healthiest version of you. Lastly, I thought I would wrap up by providing you with some links I like to share when someone is looking for meals. These links all come from Greatist, MyFitnessPal, Pinterest, FitFluential, and other bloggers I enjoy reading.

As I mentioned, I have some of my own recipes listed HERE.
